01 · Owner and Artist Terms
Updated October 21, 2026- 01
About these terms
These Owner and Artist Terms are the agreement between LVL2 LLC (which operates CREW.INK) ("CREW.INK", "we", "us") and anyone who uses CREW.INK to run tattoo work: artists, and owners and managers of Studios ("you"). They apply to the website, the apps and every feature in them (the "Service").
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. If you take payments through CREW.INK, the Payment Processing Agreement also applies and forms part of these terms.
You accept these terms when you create an account or use the Service. If you accept for a business, you confirm you can bind it.
Sales partners who refer artists and studios to CREW.INK also use the Service under these terms. Referral earnings are governed by the partner agreement you accept in the app before your partner dashboard opens.
- 02
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to form a contract.
- Each person has one CREW.INK account. It is yours for good: your page, handle, work and client relationships stay with that one account whether you work solo, join a Studio, own one or leave one.
- Give accurate information and keep it current. Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us at once if you think someone else has used them. You are responsible for what happens on your account, including by anyone you let in.
- Handles must not impersonate another person, studio or brand. We may reclaim a handle that does.
- 03
Studios and memberships
A Studio is a shared space on CREW.INK that artists join through a membership. Creating a Studio is free.
- The Studio Owner, and any admins they appoint, manage the Studio: its page, roster, shared requests, booth rent and splits, documents and settings. The Owner is responsible for the Studio and for the people they give access to.
- Artists join by invitation or approval and can see and do what their role allows. A Studio member keeps their own account; joining does not create a second identity.
- Booth rent, commission splits and other money arrangements between a Studio and its artists are agreements between them. CREW.INK records and calculates what you set up but is not a party to those arrangements. Tips are always paid to the artist in full.
- When an artist leaves or is removed, they lose access to the Studio's shared records. Their own account, page and direct clients stay with them. Each side keeps any records the law requires it to keep.
- An Owner can close a Studio. We keep closed-Studio records for as long as the law requires, then delete them.
- 04
Your business and your work
You are an independent professional. You, not CREW.INK, provide the tattoo services, set your prices, deposits and policies, and are responsible for your work.
- Hold every licence, permit and registration your state, county and city require, and follow health, sanitation, age and consent rules.
- Show clients your deposit, cancellation and refund policy before they pay, and honour it.
- Honour confirmed bookings or tell the client promptly when something changes.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, including on payments, tips and booth rent.
- 05
Plans and subscriptions
CREW.INK has three plans: Free, Plus and Pro. Current prices and what each plan includes are on the pricing page. Pricing
- Free costs $0 a month. Plus and Pro are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the paid plan until the end of the period you paid for. We do not refund partial months unless the law requires it.
- If you subscribe through the Apple App Store, Apple bills you and its terms govern billing, renewal and refunds.
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to you.
- 06
The booking fee
CREW.INK charges a booking fee on each payment a client makes for tattoo work through the Service: deposits, balances, full payments and walk-in payments. It covers card processing; there is no separate processing fee.
Plan Booking fee Minimum Free 9.9% $2.50 Plus 4.5% $2.50 Pro 3.5% $2.50 - By default the client pays the fee on top of your price. In Settings, under Payments, you can choose to cover it yourself or split it 50/50 with the client.
- Tips are never charged a fee and go to you in full.
- The Payment Processing Agreement lists every fee in full, with payout timing, refunds and chargebacks.
- Merch store items CREW.INK makes and ships for you are not charged a booking fee; CREW.INK keeps 30%, 20% or 10% of each item's profit by plan, as the Payment Processing Agreement lists.
- 07
Taking payments
To take card payments through CREW.INK you must complete payout setup and accept the Payment Processing Agreement, including our payment processor's Processing Terms and Conditions. The processor verifies your identity and business, and can approve, delay or decline an application.
- Payment processing is available only to businesses and individuals based in the 50 US states and Washington, DC, with a US bank account.
- CREW.INK is not a bank and does not hold your funds. The processor and its partner bank move client payments to your bank account.
- Payments you take outside CREW.INK, such as cash, are your own business; record them if you want them in your reports.
- 08
No fee circumvention
The booking fee is how CREW.INK is paid for bookings it carries. You agree not to avoid it. In particular, you will not:
- use CREW.INK's requests, quotes, scheduling or deposit tools to win and book a client, then tell that client to pay you somewhere else so the fee is not charged;
- enter part of a tattoo price as a tip, or split one payment into pieces, to lower or avoid the fee;
- record a payment as cash or paid elsewhere when the client paid through CREW.INK, or the reverse.
If we find circumvention, we may charge the fee that should have applied, remove features, or suspend the account.
- 09
Your content
- You own the art, photos, flash, text and other content you upload. You confirm you have the right to upload it, including the client's permission to post photos of their tattoo.
- You give CREW.INK a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, copy, resize, display and share your content to run the Service, including your public page, search and directories, and to show your public work in CREW.INK's own promotion. The licence for public promotion ends when you remove the content, apart from copies already made.
- Do not upload content that infringes someone else's rights or is unlawful. Send copyright complaints to support@lvl2.ink with the work, where it appears and your contact details.
- 10
Client data, health and consent information
Your clients' details, messages, intake answers, consent forms, waivers, ID checks and health notes are your records. CREW.INK stores and processes them for you, as your service provider, to run the Service.
- Collect only what you need to work safely and to keep the records the law requires. Health and consent information is sensitive: keep it private and use it only for that client's care and records.
- Use client contact details only for that client's bookings and for messages they agreed to. Follow the law on texts, calls and email, including consent and opt-out rules.
- You are responsible for honouring your clients' privacy requests that relate to your records; we will help with tools to export or delete them.
- Keep paper or downloaded copies as secure as the originals.
- 11
Assistant and automation
Assistant drafts replies, quotes and follow-ups for you to check. You decide what is sent, and you are responsible for messages, quotes and prices sent from your account, including automated reminders you turn on.
- 12
Acceptable use
Do not use the Service for anything unlawful, to harass anyone, to impersonate anyone, to send spam, to collect data you have no right to, to upload malicious code, to break or overload the Service, to resell it, or to sell anything the payment networks or the law prohibit.
- 13
Connected services
Some features connect to services such as Instagram, Facebook, Google, Apple and our payment processor. Those services have their own terms, and CREW.INK is not responsible for them. You can disconnect them in Settings.
- 14
Ending the agreement
- You can close your account at any time. Export your data first from Settings, under Danger zone.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts clients or other users at risk, or that our payment processor will no longer support. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.
- Refunds, chargebacks and fees on payments you took before closing remain your responsibility after you close.
- 15
Disclaimers and limits on liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost data or indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid CREW.INK in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if that is more.
- 16
Indemnity
You will defend and cover CREW.INK against claims by others that arise from your tattoo services, your content, your treatment of client data, or your breach of these terms or the law.
- 17
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States. Before filing a claim, contact us so we can try to resolve it within 30 days. Unresolved disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Kentucky.
- 18
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will tell you about material changes by email or in the app at least 30 days before they apply, unless the law or our payment processor requires a faster change. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it. These terms are written in English; translations are for convenience, and the English version controls if they differ.
